Anyone suffering from onithophobia (a fear of birds) beware, this is maybe not the show for you.
A Sexy Pigeon Show is largely what it says on the tin: an hour of bird jokes and puns delivered by an actor in a makeshift pigeon costume. Sexy? There’s a short burlesque number at the beginning so that’s not untrue. Pigeon? You bet your ass.
Fans of our feathered friends will likely get the most out, a fun show full of audience participation and family-friendly puns and jokes. If you’re not a fan of flying rats then things will not work out for you.
Sarah Ivanko takes on the role of Colum (short for Columba livia, the Latin name for pigeons), intent on bringing humanity back on side with the glorious pigeon. It’s important that the two species overcome the distrust that has kept them separated over the past few centuries. That trust will be rebuilt one audience member at a time.
It’s a fun and cute show, but also an hour of material about pigeons. Ivanko does an amazing job keeping the energy high and the audience engaged, but it’s still a show about pigeons.
