For further information, please reach out to AGM@albertamusic.org. \n\nIndividual, Band, and Company Members* will vote at the online Annual General Meeting on September 22, 2026.\n\nAlberta Music will not be accepting nominations from the floor.\n\nNOMINATION CRITERIA\n\nTo be eligible for consideration, a candidate must:\n\nBe an Alberta Music Individual, Band, or Company Member in good standing.\n\nHave a connection to and interest in Alberta’s music community.\n\nBe willing to dedicate volunteer time to the responsibilities and initiatives of Alberta Music.\n\nProvide a bio and written statement outlining their vision for Alberta Music.\n\nAttending the Annual General Meeting and introducing yourself to the membership. This includes either a written, pre-recorded, or live “pitch” (two-minutes maximum) that details why you want to join the board.\n\nBe willing to participate in committees and/or events.\n\nBe available for regular Board meetings and strategic planning meetings.\n\nBOARD NOMINATION FORM – HERE\n\nDeadline for nominations: Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 4:00 PM MT\n\nNominations received by the deadline but missing required information will be deemed invalid.\n\nQuestions or concerns can be directed to agm@albertamusic.org with the subject line: Nominations.\n\nVOTING PROCESS\n\nThe Board of Directors has a minimum of seven (7) and a maximum of nine (9) elected directors. All Directors are elected for a two (2) year term, with a maximum of six (6) years that can be served.\nOur bylaws state that no less than three (3) board members are elected from each of the geographic areas representing northern and southern Alberta, with Red Deer serving as the diving municipality.\n\nAs board members may have different term dates depending on when they were elected, the exact amount of spots open per year in each geographic area varies.\n\nAt the 2026 Annual General Meeting, we will be electing a minimum of two (2) and a maximum of four (4) board members with a minimum of one (1) board members from the Northern Alberta region.\n\nDirectors in good standing represent the northern region with two (2) members and the southern region with three (3) members. Therefore, in order to fulfil the geographical requirements of the board, the first candidates from the northern region will be elected to the board of directors. The final elected board members will be the candidates with the next highest number of votes, regardless of the region.
